Time and Chance

I would just like to encourage anyone out there that is feeling like their season is long overdue. There are many of us waiting for certain things to take place in our lives. Some of us are waiting on receiving jobs, financial relief, spouses, breakthroughs, school acceptance letters and other various things. Sometimes it feels like everybody is getting blessed (including the non-believer) except for you. It often feels like you have been left behind, like you are way behind in the race and you can’t catch up. I know there have been times when I have asked the Lord questions about why I haven’t received what I perceive to be “my blessings” and every time I speak to a brother or sister in Christ, their blessings are so much that they can’t contain it. And while you rejoice with them and praise God for what He is doing in their lives, you can’t help but remember your dryness and how barren you feel.

Sometimes I think that we start to assume or convince ourselves that we must be doing something wrong in our walk. Maybe we need to pray harder, fast more often, attend an extra church service here or there (I am not knocking any of those things, but you can’t assume that doing these things will make your blessing come any faster, it’s on God’s time you can’t rush His hand). Or especially when it comes to the really earthly things, like jobs, purchasing a home, school or spouses; sometimes we think that we are not smart enough, financially stable enough, strong enough or good looking enough. We start to believe these lies and it begins to eat away at us, allowing for depression and feelings of worthlessness to arise.

As I was thinking about certain things in my life, I remembered Ecclesiastes 9:11&12

The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding, nor favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to all for man also does not know his time.

Time and chance, it comes down to those two things. Not intelligence, physical fitness, skill, money, understanding but time and chance. That’s it! We are all on the same playing field whether we like to think so or not. Have you ever lost at something that you just knew you were supposed to win, or been rejected from a school that someone else you perceived was less intelligent than you got into? Or even on the flip side of that, have you ever gotten something and thought, “Wow! Me! I won, I got it?” That’s because it comes down to time and chance. Is it logical that David defeated Goliath? That’s because it came down to the fact that it was David’s time to triumph. Not that he was stronger than Goliath but merely it was his time.

Be encouraged! Your time is coming! You are not less than anyone all because it seems as though you are not getting ahead. Leave it up to God! For only a fool would believe in his ability to make everything in his life happen the way he planned it or designed it. Man does not even know his own time. A wise person would trust God to do what he planned to do since the beginning of time. Your time is coming, and don’t worry about anyone else’s time because that does not concern you. Hold on to the truth that God is good and as David said, “He’s never seen the righteous forsaken”.

It's Your Time

I have been attending a singles meeting at Brooklyn Tabernacle Church in Brooklyn. It has been a major blessing for me and the couple that leads the ministry are so anointed by the Lord. One night Walter the singles ministry leader played this song called "It's Your Time" by Luther Barnes. It was to motivate all the singles who have been faithfully waiting and trusting in the Lord for the promises that He has for them. It touched my spirit and spoke to exactly what I had been going through that month ( This is in reference to the Letting Go and Letting God Post)

Here is the song and lyrics and I hope that it ministers to you and encourages you to continue being faithful. God Bless and Keep Riding the Storm.

Its Your Time lyrics
by Luther Barnes

You've been faithful, you've been true
And you've done all that you can do
And for your faithfulness, it's your time
You applauded for the rest
Now it's your time to be blessed
And for your faithfulness, it's your time
(REPEAT CHORUS)

You've waited for so long
But you held on, and you were strong
And for your faithfulness, it's your time
You encouraged everyone else
When you needed it for yourself
And for your faithfulness, it's your time
(CHORUS)

You encouraged everyone else
When you needed it for yourself
And for your faithfulness, it's your time

This song is dedicated to all of you who have been working in the vineyard for the Lord for what seems like a lifetime. You have dreamed and you've worked towards things that you've wanted to accomplish for yourself. But somehow your biggest goals always seem to be just out of your reach. But the Lord told me to tell you He knows who you are. Yes, He's seen your work and He's also seen your tears. And He wants you to know that you are not forgotten. He's here to reward you for all your faithfulness. For He said in His word if you will delight yourself in Him, He will give you the desires of your heart. In other words, not only will He give you what you need, but He promised to give you whatever you want. So don't get discouraged. So don't give up. Hang in there and prepare yourself for your blessing. It's your time now.

You have waited for so long.
But you held on, you were strong
And for your faithfulness (5 times)
Because you hung in there when times got hard
And when it seemed like nobody cared
You kept right on working
You kept right on doing good things
And for your faithfulness
And for your faithfulness, it's your time
He told me to tell you, it's your time

Letting Go and Letting God

Last month was really rough for me. I got into a huge fight with my ex-boyfriend. I found out that he was dating someone else. We were not together at the time but several months back he was asking me to marry him. Now, the last time I spoke to him I told him we could never talk again because I knew the relationship was going nowhere. He was not born again and had a lot of issues that he felt were not a problem. And I could not trust him because there were too many things that he did throughout our relationship.

So to make a long story short we got into a heated argument about how he continued to lie to me and lead me on to believe that he wanted to marry me. He yelled at me for trying to control his life and talking to him about his current situation without knowing all the facts. We both said some hurtful things to each other and it was the worst fight we ever had.

I got off the phone and was so upset. I was crying to my sister, one of best friends and a friend from my church. I could not believe the things that he said to me. My friends and sister comforted and prayed with me about the situation. I was in so much pain for a week. I had to constantly ask God for his strength. There was no way I was going to get through it without Him. I had to lean on Him for understanding and comfort. The Lord let me know that I was going to be okay. The key was I had to let go.

I was trying to hold on to a relationship that was going no where. And we do it all the time whether it is a job, relationship, position or lifestyle. It is so difficult for us to let things go. But nothing is too hard for God. ‘Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You. Jeremiah 32:17. The Lord told me years ago when I started to get back in my walk with Him that I needed to let this relationship go. God told me that He had to do a mighty work in me and that being in this relationship was going to hinder my walk with Him. He also said that it would be blocking the work He has to do in my ex.

The Lord had to teach me to lose control because me being in control was only wasting time and hurting me in the long run. I had to lean on the Lord. In Proverbs 3:5-6 it says to "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." This is the key of letting go and letting God!

Once we let go of our own agenda and let God step in and be in control, wonderful things will start to happen. God is our Father and our Father knows best. We need to trust in Him more and know that he will give us the best things in life. So with that said, I made amends with my ex and forgive him for things he said and I let go of that relationship. I made the decision to die to my plans and let God have His way.

I pray that what ever you are going through that you allow the Lord to step in and be in control of the situation. Do not fool yourself, you can not do it. Only God can fix it and put you on the right path. I would like to leave you with this song by Yolanda Adams that has helped me through this tough time. I hope that it will encourage you and bless you.

Prayer in the Square 2009

Last month we had the pleasure of attending and being apart of the most monumental event of our time. Prayer in the Square 2009 was amazing! Hundreds of people came out in unity for one reason, prayer. I was in awe to see a huge multitude of people, from different churches, nationalities and races coming together for one hour of prayer.

The event opened with praises onto the All Mighty. The Choir was so anointed by the Holy Spirit. They sounded like angels ushering in the presence of the Lord. It was a sweat sound to hear so many people saying the name above all names and proclaiming that Jesus is Lord!

There were several speakers that said prayers for the city, abused children, the government, the economy and many other topics. To learn more about the event and how it got started, to see pictures and videos please go to nycprayer.org

Here are some of the video we took at the event:

In the videos, doesn't it look like God's Glory is shining down upon His people?
