Praying for the Out Pouring of the Holy Spirit for He helps us in Prayer

ROMANS 8:26 NKJ
26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

One of the most important components of our Christian lives is prayer. After all, our Christian lives are based on a relationship with the One True and Living God, the Creator of heaven and earth; and what better way to grow and nourish a relationship than through spending time together and conversation. That is precisely what prayer is, a conversation with God. This conversation can take many forms. We can spend prayer time praising the Lord, or we can spend it asking for things or we can spend it in intercession. There are times, however, when we are not sure how or for what we ought to pray. There are also times when we cannot find the words to use in prayer. God has been so gracious to give us the Holy Spirit to help us in prayer. He gives us words to use, sometimes in different tongues; He gives us thoughts and concerns that we may have never thought to pray for. Most importantly, He gives us strength in our prayer lives and helps us to pray honestly and with authority.

1 CORINTHIANS 14:2 NKJ
2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. Praying in tongues is a hotly debated issue amongst some Christians. Some people believe that you should not speak something that you don’t know. Some argue that you don’t know where the words are coming from (i.e. the devil or God). I personally find that speaking in tongues lifts my soul. I find a certain power and peace in my prayer. Most people are not in tune with their spirit let alone God’s Spirit. We are only in tune with that which is tangible, our flesh. Our spirits see, hear and feel more than our body’s could ever imagine. There are issues we have locked inside us that need to reach God. There are yearnings in our hearts, which we ourselves are not sure of. This is where the Holy Spirit and tongues play a major role in a Christian’s life. The Holy Spirit will give us the utterance to speak the things that the flesh cannot comprehend. The Holy Spirit gives us tongues in a heavenly language that cannot be understood by the enemy. How powerful is that! The enemy has no idea what you are saying to God, that is why he hates the use of tongues, he wants to be privy to the conversations we have with God. He wants to know what is going on in heaven and in our hearts so that he can prepare a proper attack. We have been given the power to remove the enemy from our prayer lives. If you have not received the gift of tongues, yes it is a gift and remember our Father in heaven only gives good gifts (read 1Corinthians 12: 1-12 for a list of the gifts of the Spirit), I would recommend sincerely asking the Lord for the Holy Spirit to give you the gift of tongues. Ask with an open heart and faith that it shall be given unto you. As you sit in the Lord’s presence, just begin to worship Him and glorify Him for what He is about to do in your life. Remember to bypass your flesh/mind for doubt may begin to set in and ruin the atmosphere for receiving the gift of tongues. If you feel unable to do it on your own, go to a church that believes that we should pray in tongues and speak with a pastoral member.
How many times have you been in distress, so down and out and can’t even lift your voice in prayer to the Lord? The Holy Spirit is there to help you in those times. He will give you strength and the words to pray. In all things God has chosen to help us. He has given us many advantages and the most important advantage is that of receiving the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to help us in all things.

JUDE 1:20 NKJ
20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. I encourage you to pray for the gift of tongues; which makes us strong. We should also honestly ask the Lord as to what we should pray for. There are times when God tells me to pray for people I don’t even know. We are instruments for God, and He will use us for his purpose. The Holy Spirit knows what we should pray for and it is best to let Him orchestrate our prayers so that we not only pray for ourselves but also for what is on God’s heart.

Praying for the Out Pouring of the Holy Spirit for He Tells Us Things To Come

JOHN 16:13 NKJ: However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

As we focus on God’s mercy and praying for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit we should realize exactly what we are praying for. The Holy Spirit is many things to us; a Helper, Comforter, Teacher, Guide and so much more. Throughout this month, I hope to explore the many roles the Holy Spirit plays in our lives. For this particular blog, I want to explore the Holy Spirit’s role as a “Teacher of things to come”.


I am sure that there is no need to remind you that we are living in troubled times. Our God is so merciful that He will not lead us into these troubled times without knowledge. Hosea 4:6 says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”, and our Father in heaven does not want us to be destroyed by the impending fear and anti-Christ spirit. That is why Jesus told His church that He would send us a Helper, He will give us the knowledge to get us through the times to come.


The Holy Spirit will reveal to God’s people everything that is in His heart to share with us. I am not sure if God will reveal everything, but I am sure that He will reveal some things. The Holy Spirit moves and communicates to us in various ways.


1. Visions/Dreams: Often times the Holy Spirit will give us visions of what is to come. The Bible says in Acts 2:17, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams". This is a promise from God; I surely believe that this is one major way that the Lord will reveal many things to His people in these last days. This is going to happen. it is inevitable, so we must prepare ourselves to receive this gift from the Holy Spirit. We should not fear, but rejoice for the Lord will pour out His Spirit as He has promised and we should be humbled and honored that He has chosen to give us a glimpse of His plan and will. Remember, we were all born for such a time as this.


2. A Word: The Bible is filled with prophecies and mentions of the end times. The Holy Spirit speaks to us through the living Bible. The Holy Spirit will bring to your remembrance a scripture that has to do with the coming times. He will also speak to your heart the things to come. It is important to read and meditate on God’s Word. Take the time to read and spend time with the Lord and the Holy Spirit will reveal many things to you. Once it is revealed, you should not stop there, you should pray that the Holy Spirit will give you a deeper understanding, and make sure to share what has been revealed to you to the Body of Christ.


3. The Church: I find comfort in the unity of the church. I am strengthened and reassured when I find that multiple pastors around the world are sharing the same message. When the Holy Spirit imparts knowledge on the leaders of our churches and they begin to share the same knowledge and heart of God, it reinforces what God is communicating to His people. Therefore, it is important to spend time with members of the body of Christ. If you are in a church that seems dry, I implore you to seek for a church that is saturated in the Spirit of the All Mighty God! Do not sleep! Watch! Lest ye fall into temptation! Jesus said this many times to His disciples and I think it is more than worth repeating.


As we pray for the out pour of the Holy Spirit, let us remember that He will communicate to us in various ways. Let us be vigilant and watch and make sure that our hearts, eyes and ears are receptive to the Will of God and the knowledge He will impart to us. And in all things, remember that we are VICTORIOUS!!!! So do not fear, but rejoice that the Lord is going to fulfill His promises to us and that we are worthy to receive an outpouring of the Holy Spirit!
